All we ask is a solid commitment to improvement as to keep the volunteers who help volunteering.

We do run on volunteers to supervise training sessions so available parents are awesome!!!!
Performance and Development Programmes Requirements 2016 season
These sessions are additional to friday.
Junior Program
Top Rope Development
This will be overseen by Rowan Hines and aims at helping members in the first few years of their climbing careers accelerate their rate of improvement by increasing their climbing volume. This is open to application by any members of the Geckos who wish to have access to a second supervised session per week. This squad will train 4:30-6:00pm Tuesdays.
Lead Development
This is for those who turn 12 within the current year therefore would be in the youth C category and up during the competition season. These categories require the competitors to be able to lead climb. Those accepted into this squad would have a goal of being able to lead climb safely and successfully by the National Champs 2016 . This squad will be taken by the Lindsey Mein, and will train 4:30-6:00pm Monday. Note that climbers can, and are encouraged to, apply for both the Top Rope and Lead Development Squads.
Junior Development
Trains Monday and Tuesday alongside the other junior squads and the intermediate and senior teams. For those who are competent in lead and lead belay but still in youth c category.
The Development Programme
A program for flying gecko club members who have completed their lead certifications and want to climb more than once a week in order to improve there climbing.
Intermediate Development:
- Aged between 13 to 16 at start of season.
- No minimum climbing grade required.
- Climbs Monday and/or Tuesday 4-6.30.
- Possible outdoors or fitness sessions may be outside these times (these will be posted monthly)
- Competes in any Christchurch Competitions
Senior Development: .
- Aged 16 or older at start of the season.
- No minimum climbing grade required.
- Climbs a personal selection of Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 4-6.30
- Possible outdoors or fitness sessions may be outside these times (these will be posted monthly)
- Competes In any Christchurch Competitions
The Performance Programme
A program for athletes who are part of the flying geckos club who have completed there lead certifications and have shown commitment to there goals. those in this program are expected participate and excel in training, competitions and outdoors. An athlete may choose to have a focus in a particular area and this will be fully supported. Those in this program are held to a high level of expectation where as self motivation and commitment is concerned.
Elite Development Team
- Have Acquired both lead licenses from the Flying Geckos Climbing Club.
- Has climbing performance orientated goals.
- Has shown commitment to these goals.
- Is willing to participate in climbing competitions
- Is willing to participate in outdoor climbing
- Is aged between 13 and 16 at the start of the season.
- Can meet the grade requirements for their age group.
- Is in the top four athletes in their age grade from the flying geckos
- Competes in all South Island Competitions and the National Championship.
High Performance Team:
- Have Acquired both lead licenses from the Flying Geckos Climbing Club.
- Has climbing performance orientated goals.
- Has shown commitment to these goals.
- Is willing to participate in climbing competitions
- Is willing to participate in outdoor climbing
- Is aged 16 or over at the start of the season.

THE GECKO SCHOLARSHIP
Provided By The YMCA Adventure Centre, Christchurch.
- Is a registered member of the flying geckos climbing club
- Trains 2 or more times a week as part of the Flying geckos training programs
- Competes in any Christchurch competitions
- Respects coaches and staff of the facility
- Adheres to training team code of conduct.
- Senior scholarship members help out by coaching or providing their own skill set once weekly (eg website maintance, etc).
- Uses training time to work hard.
These are guidelines to deciding eligible members not all members fitting these criteria will receive the scholarship. However Breach of these Conditions will result in the loss Of scholarship.
Scholarship is $35 unlimited climbing a month.

Appearance
- Is wearing team shirt whilst in the climbing gym
- Hair tidy (pulled back if long)
- No dangly jewellery or accessories
- Short fingernails
Behavior
- Is not to swear or make rude gestures
- No alcohol, smoking or illicit substances
- Is not to engage in violence
- Punctual and ready for all events
- Follows rules and instructions diligently
- Is not to brag
- Presents a positive attitude to self and others
Training

- Hair tidy (pulled back if long)

- Public pay more be nice they get first pick of climbs (especially if you are going to be there a long time)
- Phones in bag
- Energy drinks (V,Lift etc) not to be consumed in the climbing gym or during training

- Is not to engage in violence
- Punctual
- Follows instructions diligently
- Is not to brag
- Presents a positive attitude to self and others
Club Gear use and Storage
- Gear is to be put away clean after use in the correct area.
- Storage room should be left tidy
- Damages should be reported
- Record use of boulder mats in book
